nanny 101

~The Reeds~

Annie (15), Me , Jesse (13)
Dallas (11), Sophie (7), Logan (9)

I've known these 5 adorable children for over 7 years.
They are basically my brothers and sisters.
Annie is in 9th grade at Wasatch Jr. High. She loves to run.
Jesse is in 7th grade at Carden Memorial School. She loves to sing.
Dallas is in 5th grade at Carden Memorial School. He loves hockey, guitar, and banjo.
Logan is 3rd grade at Carden Memorial School. He loves everything Dallas does, and he recently finished his first half marathon--the youngest ever to run the race, and he finished in 2 hours!

Sophie is in 1st grade at Carden Memorial School. She is crazy and loves being the center of attention.
I had the pleasure of babysitting these little terrors for 3 days while their mom and dad went out of town. It was so much fun! I had never seen anybody love Photo Booth more than these 5 kids, except for me that is. I have been considered a member of the Reed family since I met them. I've known Sophie since the day she was born--she calls me her second mom, and I couldn't be more honored. These kids are so great. They're respectful, orderly, funny, crazy, and so much fun to be with. You could say they babysat me.
The kiddos say some of the funniest things I've ever heard. For instance, Dallas came up to me and asked, "Amelia, do you run?" I answered, "No Dallas, I don't. Why do you ask?" He said, "Oh, well, you have really long legs. Perfect for running. If you ever consider it, you should definitely do it." Oh. Okay. Thanks Dall. I babysat Thursday till Sunday, and on Friday afternoon, Jesse and I were preparing dinner. Annie came up and started freaking out for some reason. Jesse, being the sister that she is, said, "well someone's gonna start soon...." Annie proceeded to burst into tears. She even punched a wall.
The good news is, Annie did start...the next day. That night, Jesse, Annie and I were watching a video on the computer, and we hear three high-pitched screams. Soon enough, six feet were running into the computer room, and logan yelled, "there's the hugest spider hanging from the ceiling!" Sophie: "Amelia! Come kill it!" So, I walk into the hallway, and sure enough, there is a spider probably as big as a quarter, hanging from the ceiling by its disgusting web. Naturally, I freak out. Sophie yells, "Amelia! You're in college! You should be able to kill a spider!!" Oh Sophie, arachnophobia lasts a lifetime.
The Reeds have chickens. 7 to be exact.
Because I was babysitting, I was in charge of collecting eggs. Sophie asked me if she could collect the eggs, and I said sure. Yeah, shouldn't have done that. Sophers comes running in with one egg in her hand, and 4 crushed in her pants pockets. "I was collecting the eggs, and then BOOM!! Four of them exploded!" There was an emergency load of laundry done. There were countless music videos made, about...200 photo book pictures taken, a billion laughs, and a few tears during my 4 days with the Reeds. As weird/cheesy/weird as this sounds, I got to see what it would be like to have a mom. Some of you reading this know how much I love children, and I realized being a mom will be a ton harder than I anticipated. There were times when I wanted to lock the kids in the closet and have time to myself, but at the end of the 4 days, I realized that being a mom is worth it. No matter how annoying your kids are--you love them more than you can say. Well, now that some of you are probably creeped out, I'm going to end this post. I love you Reeds!
