So....this was supposed to be posted about....a month and a half ago. More on this later.
I've always wanted to dabble in the blogging world, so I thought to myself, why not blog about college? So, here I am. Blogging away. About college. And the life I will and hope to lead here. When my mom left my dorm room on Sunday night, she said, "Don't forget to brush your teeth," about a bajillion times. I decided to title my blog "Yes Mom, I Will Brush My Teeth" to give my mom and dad an assurance that I will be responsible while in the big, wide college world. I also thought I was rather witty and I'd be able to include fun stories from college I have to tell…Anybody? ...*crickets*... Nobody. I originally started this post two weeks ago, so that should give some insight into what I'm like. Procrastination.
Anyway, I started my freshman year at Utah State University two weeks ago. I am in love with it. In other words, I heart it. It is the perfect campus for me, and the atmosphere is unlike any place I've ever been to. Everyone is so nice and personable, and I want to be friends with everyone I meet! I think I creep people out by how much I want to be their friend...heh...
I got a chance to be a part of Aggie Blue, which is a Leadership Conference held the two days before Connections (freshman orientation) starts. One of my biggest worries as I left my apartment was if I'd be able to make friends and if people would consider me annoying. That worry left immediately, as I was instantly bombarded with friends and saw that there were people MUCH more annoying than I was. We played a lot of leadership games, got to hear some amazing speakers--including Dan "the man" Clark--and we had a lot of personal reflection time. I was in awe at how many people opened up and shared their secrets that they hadn't even whispered to themselves. I loved every minute of the conference, and I still miss my group some times...baaabbyyy shark doo-doo-do-do-do-do.
After Aggie Blue, I started Connections. The purpose of Connections is to get Freshmen acquainted with campus life, the campus, and to meet new people. Over the next four days, we helped collect $3,478.43 for a charity called Change for Change which went to help the Refugee All-Stars, a soccer team in Utah. We also had to go on a scavenger hunt around campus, we got to walk around Logan and taste food and look in stores, there were fun activities every night, all while we were learning about how to manage time wisely and be a good student. I hearted it.
I have a lot to say, so posts will come frequently. I haven't even started on the adventures I've had with my crew. Aka 4 people. Funniest nights of my life. So....get excited for that! *any one who went to Wasatch Jr. High will know EXACTLY what I mean when I say that* But I need to compose my thoughts for my next post, seeing as how this one took two weeks.
Friends, Family, College life, etc...I heart it all.
oh and yes, mom, I have been brushing my teeth.
another post please?
